Sue Carter
FCA DChA
With over 30 years of experience in preparing and examining charities’ financial statements, Sue is a respected and widely recognised charity specialist and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. She has also served for many years as a trustee for several long established local charities.
Before establishing Make Your Figures Count, Sue was Head of Charities for a top-20 accounting firm, and is currently one of a limited number of practising accountants who holds a Diploma in Charity Accounting, awarded by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

John Carter
MBE FCA TEP MAE
For more than 35 years, John has practised as a chartered accountant and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, a Member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and a Member of the Academy of Experts. During this period, John has advised charities on a range of governance issues including reporting systems and compliance standards.
John has also served as a trustee of several long-established local charities and was, from 1998-2017, the Chairman and Honorary Chief Executive of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group, a charity which supports the provision of cancer services at Bath’s Royal United NHS Hospital. In the 2018 Birthday Honours, John was awarded an MBE; his citation read, “Lately Honorary Chief Executive, Bath Cancer Unit Support Group. For charitable services to Healthcare and to the community in Bath.”
